Buying HDMI Cables for Home Theater System - Useful Tips

by John Abraham

Many people love to have the best home theater system with the best picture and surround sound quality. They may have bought the best High Definition TV, DVD player and speakers but may not have experienced the best quality. This is probably due to low quality home theater cables.

Good quality cables are not usually provided when we purchase the home theater systems. But when we get better cables and connect them, we can see a huge difference in the sound and video. There are many brands and different types of cables being sold in the market.

The cables must be chosen carefully. These can be pricey but they are useful for getting a good video and sound quality. These must be used over small distances for better results.

You should take a look at various cables available in the market. These have a wide range of specifications. You will see various brands available at different prices. You must take a look at the specifications.

You can get the same quality from generic brands that are cheaper but offer the same advantages. These are cheaper than branded cables and have the same specifications with the same quality.

You should keep various things in mind before buying HDMI cables. You should know whether you want to install it inside the wall, what length you need and what your budget is.

CL2 rated cables are necessary if you want them to be inside the wall. A CL2 rated cable does not catch fire easily. In case you ever need to sell your house, you will not get any objections from anyone who has come for inspections.

Most customers do a lot of research about the TVs and speakers but they do not do enough research for accessories. They know very little about HDMI cables. The sellers take advantage of this and sell the accessories at high prices. So consumers have to take all these points into consideration.

There is something wrong with saying "Blue Ray Technology". It is not that the technology doesn't exist, but rather the term "Blue Ray Technology" is often the mistaken form title for Blu Ray Technology, as Blu Ray Technology is spelled without the extra e, unlike saying "Blue Ray Technology". It is actually a minor detail many make the mistake of making, understandably.

Blu Ray Technology is basically the next thing after DVD. It stands to be more impressive than DVD, in the sense that Blu Ray discs boasts to have more storage space compared to that of DVD discs, even the dual-layer class of DVDs.

Blu-ray is capable of storing up to 25 gigabytes of data, while dual-layer formats of it could store twice that, at 50 gigabytes. If you go around asking what is Blu-Ray, you are sure to get answers like it is basically DVD, only with bigger data storage capacities. It is named as such because of the blue colored laser which is utilized in its optical reading/writing function. CDs and DVDs utilize a red colored laser. This difference in color stands as the major difference between the optical storage formats, aside from Blu-Ray's impressive data storage capacities.

But one's answers for one's what is Blu-Ray inquiry don't just stop there. Blu-Ray comes in three formats, which is basically no different from its previous counterparts. There is the BD-ROM, the BD-R and the BD-RE. The BD-ROM represents the read only class of Blu-Ray optical disc formats, which is ideal for the distribution of game software for personal computers and/or game consoles, high definition movies, and personal computer software.

BD-R is the recordable format of Blu-Ray, and functions no different from the CD-R or DVD-R class of optical storage device. One could record high definition movies, or data files into a BD-R disc. The BD-RE represents the CD-RW or DVD-RW class, meaning it is the rewritable type of Blu-Ray discs.

Blu Ray is basically the product of a joint project between the members of the Blu-Ray Disc Association, an association comprising of leading personal computer manufacturers, media makers and consumer electronics manufacturers. Among the brands part of the Blu-Ray Disc Association are: Hitachi, Thomson, Panasonic, Sharp, Apple, Dell, TDK, Sony, Pioneer, Samsung, Philips, LG, JVC, and Hewlett Packard. Again, there is something wrong with saying "Blue Ray Technology", as it is spelled Blu Ray, and not Blue Ray Technology.

If you are searching to create a new home for yourself and your family, you must really mull over having a dedicated room where you may watch movies and Telly. You should include in this room a home theater system with the 5 audio speakers so that you can easily enjoy your Telly watching and have all your friends comment on how great it is.

When you want to get a home system like this you will want to not simply get the DVD player and audio speakers though. You will want to get the whole thing so that you can make your Television viewing more like going to a cinema. You may even design the room to be more like a cinema with a popcorn machine, blackout blinds and special acoustics if you would like.

When you set up the speakers you have to make sure that they are placed in the correct positions around the room. They should be at the level of where you are sitting and each must be where the diagram shows. To get it right, you might want to mount the audio speakers on the wall. Some home theater systems do have speakers on stands, which is a little easier if you want to move things around.

Now, to get your kit started you will have to settle on what you want to use as a screen. Do you wish to use a computer monitor, or a Television, and will it be an HDTV, or an HD computer monitor, or will you be humdrum and just get a standard def Television?

When you choose to set up a home theater room you should also think about some other items that would go well in it. One of these is a popcorn machine and perhaps a mini bar fridge.

You can also get a projector for when you really want to get that cinema feel. You can get the screen that goes with it, or you can simply paint one of the walls white so that you can project the image onto it.

The audio speakers you have will genuinely enhance the HD quality and you will find that you spend a lot more time in your new home entertainment room with all the state of the art equipment.

In a typical home theater setup, there should be six home theater speakers, two front speakers, two surround speakers, a center speaker and a subwoofer for the lowest frequency ranges. There are two ways to obtain all these speakers, buying each of them separately, or buying a home theater speaker set.

Home Theater speaker Sets:

If you're low on budget, you should think about one of these. But remember: don't spare on speakers, they're very important. There are lots of cheap home theater speaker sets on the market, but you shouldn't buy one of them, because these are of poor quality. Usually, sets manufactured by well-known brands (Klipsch, Bose, for example) produce a decent sound. This way you'll still not spend as much as you would on separate speakers.

If you're thinking about buying one of these sets, read our article on home theaters in a box.

Going One By One:

So, you're serious about your future home theater, and want to spend a little more on the speakers? Buying speakers separately has many advantages: it's the best quality you can have, and another, often overlooked advantage is that you can don't have to buy the whole set at a time, so if you haven't got the money, you can still have high quality speakers in your setup.

Your front speakers should be the strongest members in your home theater speaker setup. If you have a small room, choose bookshelf speakers. Larger rooms will require larger speakers; in this case, powerful floor-standing speakers are the choice to go with.

I often hear that it is advisable to have the exact same speakers for surround and front. This is true, but it's not very practical: movie sounds mixes don't use surround speakers as much as they use the front speakers. So, you can choose smaller and less-powerful speakers for your surround setup, it won't make significant differences anywhere accept your wallet.

The surround and front units were good, old-fashioned hi-fi speakers used for a home theater setup. The case is different with our center speaker. It's a special speaker with unique frequency response. If it's possible, have the center speaker from the same brand as the surround and front speakers. This unit is also often overlooked, but it's very important, because this speaker is used for voices and talking in a sound mix.

The subwoofer is used to reproduce the lower frequencies. Sometimes, it's optional: the front speakers can be powerful enough to rock the house, and an additional subwoofer is not needed. However, in larger rooms, it's inevitable. Subwoofers require lots of power, and in most cases, they require their own power input (these are called "active subwoofers").

Many people used to enjoy a great family tradition of going out to the movies, however many of these people can simply no longer afford the expense. Taking the family out to see a movie has simply become too expensive for many people. By the time you get everyone through the door you can easily be out 50 bucks or more. This is one of the biggest reasons why people are going with a home theater installation as a way to save money on their entertainment budget.

The price of a movie ticket is expensive, and even if you go during the afternoon when prices are cheaper, they are still expensive and the prices for a ticket continue to rise. Being able to watch movies from home while still enjoying the experience of the theater is a good way to save both money and time.

Consider the fact that most people don't just spend money on the ticket. They buy popcorn, soda, or candy. Maybe they buy all three. If you do this for a single person you'll probably need 20 bucks. Doing this for a family is simply impossible for many. With a system at home you can buy your refreshments at the supermarket and save tons of money.

You also benefit from the convenience a home system can provide. You don't have to round up the whole family and synchronize everyone's schedule. You don't have to fight the traffic, race for a parking spot, or even worry about the weather. Just park everyone on the couch and enjoy watching from the comfort of your own home.

Many people are under the impression that home theater installation systems are too expensive for them to afford. The truth is that when you compare the price of a system to just a few family outings to the movies you will see that it will pay for itself in pretty short order.

And you don't have to stress over not knowing exactly what to buy or even how to install it. There are professionals who can help you determine exactly what you need and they can even come to your home and install the system for you to make sure you are getting the most out of your new equipment.

Simply connect to the internet and begin to research your home theater installation options. You will learn more about how a professional installation can be a real benefit. Get more from your entertainment budget and enjoy the real convenience a home theater system can provide.

Save some major money with a home theater installation.
Surround sound is something that a whole lot of folks decides they wish to have in their home. The trouble is that they locate that having a lot of wires all over the place is unsightly and may be a real hazard. So they desire to convert it to some wireless surround sound. Unfortunately, they aren't certain how they can do it.

If you are an individual that has been normal surround system and wants to convert it to some wireless surround sound system within your house, here are the actions that you can take in order to obtain your house sounding like a theater without all from the wires.

The very first issue that you have to accomplish should be to unplug your receiver from its electrical outlet. Then you might have to cut some speaker's wire into lengths of twelve inches, stripping a half an inch of insulation from the wires at every end with the lengths. You might be likely to will need two of these lengths for every single of your speakers who happen to be going to be connected towards the wireless transmitter you're using.

The following point that you want to do whenever you convert to wireless surround sound should be to connect the speaker wires to posts for the rear in the receivers for each and every of one's wireless speakers. Long Sentence an example, the speakers inside rear from the surround sound are generally the two inside your system that are converted from wired to wireless, so a length of wire is about to be connected on the rear channel about the left and around the right, and that you are proceeding much the red wire towards the corresponding post, connecting the other wire towards post, which is black,

Now, you are planning to do attach the wires' other ends on the wireless transmitter that you will get with your kit. The wires are about to connect for the transmitter box's back with some spring clips that will lift to uncover holes that could be utilized for those wires beneath them.

The following step to setting up a wireless surround sound would be to attach your smaller boxes for wireless receivers for your speakers employing additional speaker wire plus the same techniques as above. Then you intend to put your speakers within the areas that you want them being and get your receivers plugged in.

At this point, you want to reconnect your receiver and also the transmitters which are attached for your power source. Finally, switch on your receiver and be sure it's set towards the mode that says surround sound in order to test your speakers and ensure that they are working.

Here are a couple of suggestions to remember:

Be sure that you might be connecting the wires appropriate when you are connecting your speakers, simply because you are going to locate that the signal is reversed.

Be sure that you simply aren't plugging anything in anything until you have completed the entire all your connections.

It's not tough to convert to wireless surround sound as long as you follow the measures above.

{An important decision to make when setting up your home theater system is what sort of home video arrangement you're going to have, and the most important part of that arrangement, of course, is which television you're going to get. The answer could depend on what sort of viewing you plan to do. Some types will favor plasma TVs while others will work much better with LCD televisions. There are pros and cons to each type of system, and you're going to have to sort them out as you set up your theater design.|Before you begin your home theater installation, you'll need to decide on the item that will probably be the centerpiece of the entire theater; the television. When it comes to large screen TVs, the two main choices seem to be either LCD or plasma. Each kind has its own strengths and weaknesses, and any of these could affect your viewing experience. So you'll need to know what primary types of viewing you'll be doing before you can choose either of these televisions for your home video needs.|If you're beginning to plan your own home theater setup, then will a Plasma or LCD television be best for your home video requirements, if you're beginning to plan your own home theater setup? The answer to the question depends on what type of viewing you'll be doing, whether you'll mainly watch movies and TV shows, or whether there will be gaming or even internet work. All custom home theaters center around the television, but you'll need to compare the strengths and weaknesses of each type, before you can choose properly.|When people start shopping for home theater systems, the first thing they need to decide on is what sort of television they'll have, because this is usually the centerpiece of the home theater. The two main choices these days for large screen televisions are the plasma and the LCD. And each of these will work better for different types of viewing. So you'll have to assess what your primary uses will be for your television before choosing one for your home video system.}

Before you begin your home theater installation, you'll need to decide on the item that will probably be the centerpiece of the entire theater; the television. When it comes to large screen TVs, the two main choices seem to be either LCD or plasma. Each kind has its own strengths and weaknesses, and any of these could affect your viewing experience. So you'll need to know what primary types of viewing you'll be doing before you can choose either of these televisions for your home video needs.

Plasma TVs are brighter, yet have such a reflective surface that most of your home video experiences will need to be in a darker room. On the other hand, LCD televisions can handle all sorts of different video situations and lighting. Yet LCD TVs also experience slight blurring and even a potential trail stemming from quick movements on the screen. But plasma televisions can experience image burn if an image stays on the screen too long. As you compare home theater systems, you see how dependent your choices are on what type of viewing you'll be doing, and in what conditions.

Other choices will involve video players, gaming boxes and other home theater accessories. For example, you may want to get a Blu-ray player to plug into your television. If you were thinking of getting one of the in-a-box home theater packages, you may find one that includes a Blu-ray device, while others include DVD players.

But you can also connect with standalone players. Many Blu-ray players, as well as playing videos, can also connect to streaming video services like Netflix or Pandora. So you'll want to read a lot of reviews before you buy one of these video devices.

Then come all the extras. The home video experience doesn't just include movies and television watching any more. The kids can plug gaming boxes in, and when they've gone to bed, you can turn on your TiVo or other Digital Video Recorder, catching up on programs you've missed. If you hire a home theater installer, then this person can set up the room so you'd hardly need to leave except to go to work and eat and sleep, and even then you might connect to the internet and work from home. The world has come a long way since the invention of the television, and your home theater is a means of experiencing all of that.

Obviously you've upgraded to a true HD TV and the difference in picture quality is breath taking. The real problem is now in the quality of your DVD playback. It has somehow become less crisp than it used to be. Part of this is perception and part of it has to do with your player. Looking at an HD DVD might save you a little money and enhance your movie watching experience.

The advantages of an HD DVD player really boil down to two basic topics: convenience and quality. If you are looking for a solution that will make your DVDs play as nice as the HD channels you are receiving, forget it, you will never see that kind of quality out of a true DVD with anything that is out on the market now. However, HD DVD players offer something blu-ray does not: interchangeability.

There is no such thing as "true" HD picture with a standard DVD, though in most cases your old DVDs do play fine. This has more to do with the limits placed on the DVDs themselves; they just cannot compete for clarity and audio accuracy that true HD DVDs and Blu-ray discs can provide. So if you are thinking you'll get a better picture out of an HD DVD player using your old DVDs, the difference will be nominal.

HD DVD players use a blue laser. What this does for you as a consumer is shorten the load time and allow for a more compressed disc. That is to say a standard sized DVD will hold more digital content. That's how HD DVD is able to deliver a crisper picture in high def and its older cousins are not.

Another advantage for HD DVD players is simply that having one player that can play two formats saves you space. Otherwise you'd be losing space under your TV to yet another player. And no one wants to see that.

Another space saver comes from the fact that HD DVDs come in the same packaging as normal DVDs. This makes your movie shelf look more uniform and prevents you from having to store movies on different shelves. For those with OCD this helps some.

The players are readily available and relatively inexpensive compared to Blu-ray, so price is another factor. If given the option a lot of consumers would go for the cheaper solution to a problem and HD players for DVD are a viable one.

The real plus to it all is that you don't have to start over on your collection and you can keep one basic unit beneath your TV instead of two, three of four different boxes. For we older people who remember the Betamax/VHS wars if the early 80s there is the added comfort of knowing we don't have to completely switch formats again or hope we guessed which was going to become the standard.

Home theaters are all the rage these days and large displays and surround sound can revolutionize your viewing experience. What is more, it is even possible to turn your living room into the next best thing to a movie theater.

While large LCD TVs offer a great viewing experience, nothing can match a real projector to bring movies and TV to life. Projectors, also called multimedia projectors or home theater projectors, have been around for decades. However, it is only in the last few years that projectors have become affordable for the average consumer.

In addition, video projectors have become lighter and smaller, and picture quality and brightness has improved significantly. Quality projectors are available for well below the one thousand dollar mark, but you can pay thousands of dollars for more expensive models.

Buying a projector can be big investment so you need to know exactly what you want. There are 2 major varieties of projectors - Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) and Digital Light Processing (DLP).

Liquid Crystal Display projectors - Liquid Crystal Display projectors are the older of the 2 technologies, but they remain popular and are inexpensive. They have good brightness and color, and are a popular choice for presentations.

DLP projectors - Digital Light Processing (DLP) projectors have become more popular with domestic users because they are more suited for movies and TV. They are often smaller and lightweight, though they also cost more.

When shopping around for a video projector it is wise to have a firm grasp of the jargon and have a fair idea of what features you require.

Resolution - The chief reason for owning a video projector is so you can have a large, cinema-like display in your home. But bear in mind that big displays require high resolutions. The smallest resolution you should consider is 1280x720. If you need a genuine high-definition projector, 1920x1080 is what you need, but they are pricier.

Brightness - This is arguably the most essential feature on any projector. That said, it is also important to find a projector that is not too bright. A lot depends on the brightness of your room.

Contrast - Any home video projector needs to provide good contrast for cinematic quality. Also, a decent high-contrast gray screen will help.

Versatility - Your projector should be capable of connecting to a wide range of media, including TV receivers, DVD/BluRay players and computers so you can watch the shows you want, when you want.

If you are not a person who is not technology smart then you are probably wondering what HDMI cables are. I am not technology smart at all and this is why I looked up about these new devices that seem to be becoming more popular every day. Let me first tell you that HDMI stands for high definition multimedia interface, WOW what a mouth full!

The HDMI stands for (high definition multimedia interface). Yes, that is a mouth full! This cable will make your sound and pictures appear very clear when compared to the normal view that you have. These cables are the newest thing in technology and they have just came out in two thousand and three.

I always wondered how this was so different from all the other cables that I had on my television. I know I could tell you in the terms that most people would not understand, or I could tell you the way that I understand, which is in laymen terms. I did not know what this cable was until I read up on the internet about it and decided to hook mine up.

Most televisions, DVD players and also cable and satellite boxes will carry a HDMI hook up so that you can plug in the cable and hook it up to something else. Most devices you buy now come with at least three hook ups for an HDMI cable.

This cable is good because it makes your sound quality and picture a lot clearer and not only that but it also will help to prevent all the clutter that you have from other cables that are hanging around. An HDMI will replace more than just one cable and then it wont look like you have a big cluster of cables and wires coming out of the back of your entertainment system.

If you are looking to buy an HDMI cable, you should check online at different sites. Sometimes you can find them cheap and sometimes you just have to pay full price for them. You can find used one that may run as cheap as fifteen or ten dollars but most of the new ones which are at least five feet long will cost you thirty dollars. I have even seen some that cost one hundred and thirty.

There are many devices that will support a HDMI cable. Most of your newer televisions and DVD players will work perfectly well with this cable without anything more than plugging it in. There are even cable and satellite dishes that support the HDMI feature so that you can watch a clearer picture on cable or satellite and not just a video.

If you have a television that you can hook up to your DVD player and they both have an HDMI cable input, then you should give it a try. I am not someone who conforms with anything and I can say that I was happy that I conformed with this because it made this so much better and the price was steep but it was so worth it. IF your looking to go with an HDMI then you can find them online or at some local department stores.

You will find your hdmi cables in one place with no searching needed, today! The hdmi cable you need is affordable and easy to get now!

One of the most important aspects of a home theater doesn't even involve the TV, the DVD player, the projectors (if chosen) or even anything electronic. What good is having the best home theater in the entire neighborhood if everyone has to sit on metal folding chairs to enjoy it? Finding comfortable but appropriate seating not only allows a solid level of comfort throughout any viewing event, but it also enhances the entire home theater experience.

Obviously cheap metal folding chairs you can buy for $10 at Wal-Mart are probably not your best choice for home theater seating. That would actually be a major whiff. The choices for various home theater seating options are extensive, and each has some solid merit and may depend on how many people you generally plan on having over to enjoy the system.

Some people like movie theater type chairs to give it an authentic experience, while for others a comfortable sofa of several recliners is as good as it gets. Don't limit your options, either. This is your home theater system, and you should get not only seating that works well for the look and feel of your system, but seating that you will legitimately enjoy using. If you want recliners, you can even consider massage recliners, high quality (i.e. not dragged off the corner after college lets out for the summer) top of the line recliners.

Home theater seating is important because if you aren't comfortable while watching a great home theater system, then what's the point of the rest of it? It doesn't matter how good the rest of the system is because no one will be comfortable watching anything. In fact, the right home theater seating is arguable almost as important as the sound and picture quality of the home theater itself!

If you don't like the idea of a couch in a home theater set up, consider a series of recliners in a row. Not only do you get the amazing comfort of recliners, but by having them lined up in a row you can still have the effect of a theater setting.

DVD Projectors are exactly what they sound like

No home theater system is complete without a good speaker system. Ideally, the surround sound should be Dolby 7.1 or at least Dolby 5.1. If you are going to spend the money on a great home theater system, it makes little sense to "cheap out" with the speakers and audio system, since after the picture, the SOUND is the other component that lights up your internal sensory preceptors as you are enjoying your system.

You can even go the extra mile with your surround sound system if you want to do everything, and use the "bass shaker" attachments that are available with some systems. These gadgets attach to your recliner or sofa, and when a scene comes on with an explosion or car wreck, these gadgets actually SHAKE the recliner or sofa, adding to the realism of the movie.

My suggestion is that make a list of things for yourself, or maybe even a spreadsheet that your take with you when shopping around. Put a column for features that you have to have as opposed to the want to have features. And definitely shop around for your entertainment center. Make a budget for yourself that you a will not go over by even a penny, no matter how much a particular piece of media is screaming 'buy me, buy me.'

Watch for certain systems you like to go on sale. Sales occur on a regular basis, and you can save yourself a load of money. If you are purchasing the features separately, my suggestion is to purchase them from the same store. That way, if there is a hiccup, you won't need the issue of pointing your finger from the various stores to try and blame each other.

The smart shopper is the one who gets the quality system and doesn't pay "sticker price" for it. Be informed, know what you want, be willing to learn if you run across an intelligent salesperson who knows what he is talking about, and stick to your budget. You will be able to enjoy your investment in this superb home theater system for years to come.
